1958 a small muffler shop in East Los Angeles, California was
purchased for $1200. This was the beginning of the now famous exhaust
header company known as Doug's Headers. The company expanded rapidly
from a muffler repair shop into a shop that was designing and building
innovative exhaust components such as headers and free flowing exhaust
systems. One of the factors that allowed Doug's Headers to grow was
the philosophy of the company to build exhaust products of the highest
quality and that fit and outperformed anything on the market at the
time. Doug's Headers utilized the racetrack to prove and improve its designs. The cars that used the products produced by Doug's Headers were consistently among the top performers in their various classes. Many of the cars running headers designed and built at Doug's Headers were record holders in their particular classes. This type of testing challenged Doug's Headers to research innovative designs in exhaust products in able to keep ahead of the competition. As the number of trophies and records accumulated and demand increased for cars equipped with Doug's Headers it caused the business to grow into the industry leader. Headers intended for heavy-duty applications utilize 5/8" thick flanges welded to 14-gauge tubing and 3/8" thick flanges welded to 16-gauge tubing is used for lighter duty applications. All headers are built to very exacting tolerances to guarantee proper fit and the flanges are ground flat to assure long gasket life. All headers are supplied complete with the necessary gaskets, bolts and connectors to complete the installation.
