Carroll Shelby
No other race car driver, designer, and builder has had such a powerful influence on the history of the sports car than Carroll Shelby.  Nurturing the idea of developing an inexpensive American sports car, Shelby designed a vehicle with a light sports car chassis, powered by an American V-8 engine.  Known as the Cobra, this car set the tone for the '60s muscle car era.

After World War II, Shelby owned and operated dump trucks.  It was at this time that he assisted with the building a portion of the famed Route 66 Highway near McLean, Texas.

With an unrivaled racing career and an eternal love for the automobile, Shelby's accomplishments in the automotive industry have received international acclaim.

We are proud to induct Carroll Shelby... For his outstanding impact on the automotive industry through design, engineering, and the building of legendary Shelby Cobras.

From race cars to production cars, Camaros have enjoyed success on the racetrack and in the showroom.  Through the years, the Camaro has evolved from the first generation model, built in 1967-1969, through the debut of the fourth generation in 1993. The 1997 Camaro has an optional 30th Anniversary package, reminiscent of the legendary 1969 Z28 Pace Car, as displayed with us today,

Hot Rod Magazine
Nearly 50 years ago, dating back to December 1947, Robert E. Petersen launched Hot Rod Magazine.  Starting as a niche publication for rod enthusiasts whom Petersen had met at local drive-ins and racetracks, the magazine's initial 10,000-copy press run was eagerly snapped up by hot rod enthusiasts looking for insights into their favorite hobby.

The magazine's impact on the American automotive scene was immediate, reflected by Hot Rod's circulation soaring to more than 50,000 in the first year.  Today, with more than 800,000 monthly readers, Hot Rod ranks as one of the highest circulation automotive publications in the world.

Celebrating it's 50th Anniversary with the January 1998 issue, Hot Rod will reproduce the first-ever issue to accompany the current magazine.  Today we are honoring Hot Rod... for 50 years of dedicated coverage of the hot rod hobby and lifestyle...
