What is the Firefighters Competition? Each year approximately 75 firefighters from San Diego, Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties compete in a friendly competition to strengthen their skills.
What Firefighters Competitions are there? There is a Hose Cart competition which recreates the horse-drawn arts that would pull the hoses to where the fires were, only in this competition they are pulled by humans. There is also the Bucket Brigade, involving a chain link of teams passing buckets of overflowing water to fill an empty tank. Make 'n Break challenges the speed and accuracy of the firefighters, requiring them to assemble and disassemble sections of the fire hose with nozzle. And, finally, is the Water Ball Challenge where a 2-foot ball is suspended 20 feet in the air and the teams take aim with fire hoses to try and push the all onto the opposing team's side.
When and Where is the Firefighters Competition? The competition takes place on Sunday, the final day of the Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous, from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. near Meadowbrook Park on 3rd Street between Mt. view and Sierra Way.
