What is the Open Header Contest?
Contestants pull their vehicle in front of the judges table and rev the engine to its loudest point.  These vehicles have no exhaust systems attached to the headers, thus the term "Open Header."

Where is the contest held?
The Open Header Contest will be held on 3rd Street between Arrowhead Avenue and Sierra Way next to Meadowbrook Park.

When is the contest held?
On Saturday, September 20, 2008 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Check-in begins at 2:30 p.m. at a location to be determined.

Does it cost to enter the contest?
The Open Header Contest is open to cars registered for the Route 66 Rendezvous only.  There is no cost to enter this contest.

How is the contest judged?
There are two categories: Loudest and Best Sounding. Each contestant is judged by using a decibel meter. The vehicle with the loudest reading is the winner.

What does the winner receive?
The Loudest wins a rebuilt Engine donated by Wayne's Engine Rebuilders. All other winners receive an award plaque.

The winners are announced immediately after the event.
